| Bio: | This is my weight loss/riding livejournal. I've made a pact with myself to lose at least 35 pounds, and my reward is riding lessons. I was a rider in my younger days, and never had complete confidence in myself, due to weight issues. This endeavour will have twofold benefits: I will get back into riding (and hopefully do better at it), as well as feeling better about myself in general. I used to ride hunter/jumper, but I have a fear of heights and soaring over fences was never really the best thing for me to do, so I'm going to switch disciplines to dressage, which is so beautiful it's poetic. This journal will log all things related to my weight loss, including diet, exercise, and even how I'm feeling about myself on particular days. It'll also serve as a place for me to collect my thoughts about horses, riding, and becoming an equestrian again - may even talk about past experiences with horses I've ridden, and Ducky, the horse I owned a few years ago. I may from time to time jot down things I read from magazines or books that I find helpful, and I'll probably use it as a place to brainstorm about where I want to ride and how often. Once my goal is accomplished, I'll hopefully continue to use this journal to talk about my riding experiences and the trials and tribulations I may face as a "rusty" rider. This is a very "me"centric journal, so don't feel obligated to friend me or add me if I've added you along the way. If you're one of my friends from my regular journal and you're curious about my progress in this, awesome. If you're someone from a horse community I've joined to keep my focus on this project, don't worry about reciprocating an add or anything - I've probably just admired your riding, thoughts on riding, or your horse, from community entries. My ultimate goal is to be able to own a horse again within the next few years, and compete a little (just schooling/local shows) ***DISCLAIMER*** this is not meant to be disparaging to riders who don't fit in the 'cookie cutter' equestrian mold. My weight has always been something I've struggled with, regardless of whether I was a rider (be it casual or in competition) or not.
